A record number of Illinois students are earning degrees from Illinois community colleges, according to a recent article in the East Peoria Times Courier.
The article also reported that students also took a record number of community college credit hours during the same period, in fiscal year 2010.
This trend was seen in community colleges around the state, including at Illinois Central College in East Peoria. Here’s a snap shot of just how much Illinois Central College has grown:
- Enrollment at ICC increased by 8.6 percent in 2009
- Credit hours taken at ICC increased by 11.7 percent in 2009
- Attendance numbers at ICC have been steadily rising for the last decade, according to school officials.
Investing in Peoria Illinois Real Estate
Illinois community college have grown increasingly popular partly because of the top-notch education students receive at competitive tuition rates.
Although ICC has raised its tuition from $82 a semester to $93 a semester over the last few years, it still is considerably better than the tuition at other higher education establishments in the state.
For instance, at Illinois State University, Bradley University and the University of Illinois, the minimum semester hour fee ranges from $351 to $807.
