Having an Illinois address – especially a Peoria, Illinois address – is becoming increasingly popular, according to a recent article.

The Illinois Association of REALTORS recently reported that April marked the third consecutive month in which home sales increased.

All of this has happened while mortgage interest rates and home prices have remained at record lows.

Here are some of the revelations that the Illinois Association of REALTORS recently made:

  • Statewide home sales (including single family and condominiums) in April 2011 totaled 8,526 homes sold, which was an increase of 8.5 percent from 7,856 sales in March 2011
  • When compared with April 2010,  sales were down by 21.8 percent.  Experts attribute this to the tax credit that caused an unusually high level of sales last year.
  • The median sales price for an Illinois home  in April was $136,066, which is an increase of  4.7 percent from $130,000 in March 2011.
  • The median sales price in April was down 12.2 percent from April 2010, which saw a median sales price of $155,000.
